Memori-Wall

As a community organisation we are committed to discovering, celebrating and connecting the assets present in our neighbourhoods and in this spirit we would you like to honour all those from Hackney who have sadly passed away during the period of Covid-19.

Traditional and established ways of saying goodbye to loved ones and mourning their loss is not possible at the moment. Using the hoarding around Liberty Hall, Clapton Commons volunteers have created a temporary memorial - the Memori-Wall - to remember those who have lost loved ones.

On Thursday 14th May we held a small and safe remembrance event to accompany the name placing on the wall. We were joined by Hackney’s Mayor, Phil Glanville, who personally honoured the life of Rabbi Avrohom Pinter, who sadly passed away in April.

A short film of this evening of remembrance was documented by Clapton Commons’ Aviel Lewis (see below).

We would like members of the public to send names, age and a few words about the person to info@claptoncommons.org which we will add it to the Memori-Wall as a way to recognise, remember, celebrate and grieve.

Throughout June you will find members of Clapton Common at the Memori-Wall at 7.45pm. We will then spend a minute at 8pm clapping for NHS and Key-workers in the UK.
